Long week in North Carolina

3 Jul

This past week was spent with the sand in between my toes and the sun baking my skin to a crispy tan.  It was my family’s semi annual cousins week were the second generation of the family takes some time out and goes somewhere all together.  Granted we couldn’t all make it for work or kids we had most of the nieces and nephews of my Kulick grandparents there in a rental house on the beach in Summer Shores, Outer Banks North Carolina.  The water was crisp, the drinks a plenty and good food everywhere.

From Michigan we drove for nearly 13 hours down overnight only to get stuck on the causeway for over an hour of stopped traffic on Saturday.  So needless to say once we got groceries we spent most all time on either the beach or on the deck of the house.  The house itself was beautiful and a great place for almost 20 people but we only had 8 people mostly.  From our first days we had BBQ shrimp, fish tacos, and shrimp stir fry.  Got some shopping in and purchased myself some very nice chinos and shorts at JCrew and will hopefully get a couple more pieces from them soon. By the time the trip started wrapping up we had all enjoyed ourselves immensly but were ready to be back in our own worlds whether that meant Chicago, East Lansing, DC, Philly or Rochester.

Overall though one of the few experiences that will never leave my memories and the bonds our family continually reestablishes is unbelievable.  I can’t wait until we figure out where to travel to next year.
